Wildlife Wonder for Seniors
Our Golden Oldies sessions are specially designed for aged care groups, community centres, and retirement villages. We bring our team and some fascinating wildlife ambassadors for an engaging, sensory-rich experience that sparks joy, connection and curiosity.
Whether it’s sharing stories about native animals, watching a black cockatoo eat from its perch, or learning how we care for injured joeys, these sessions promote emotional wellbeing and lifelong learning — no matter your age.
We believe everyone deserves the chance to get close to nature — and our wildlife ambassadors are perfect conversation starters, memory makers, and mood boosters.
What to Expect
Every Golden Oldies session is designed to be interactive, inclusive and sensory-rich. Our friendly education team brings a selection of rescued animals (and their incredible stories), sharing how each species survives in the wild and why our work matters.
A typical session includes:
- Up-close visits with native wildlife (such as bobtails, tawny frogmouths or black cockatoos)
- Fascinating facts and stories about the animals in our care
- Gentle touch-and-hold opportunities where appropriate
- Q&A time and shared storytelling
- Resources for those who want to learn more
We tailor each session to suit the group — whether it’s a quiet one-on-one room visit or a lively group talk.
Why It Matters
These sessions do more than entertain — they uplift.
Benefits for seniors include:
- Emotional connection and joy from animal interaction
- Sensory stimulation and gentle engagement
- Reminiscence and storytelling opportunities
- Mental health and wellbeing support
- A sense of participation in helping local wildlife
Our team understands the unique needs of older adults, including those living with dementia, mobility challenges or low vision. We create a safe, slow-paced and respectful experience for all.
