Native Animal Rescue has been renamed to Perth Wildlife Hospital

NEW NAME SAME HEART

We might look a little different, but our mission, our team, and our love for wildlife remain exactly the same.

Go Behind the Scenes at Perth Wildlife Hospital

Once a year, we swing open our doors to give the public a rare, behind-the-scenes look at Perth Wildlife Hospital, the only dedicated wildlife hospital in Perth’s northern suburbs. From hospital wards and rehabilitation enclosures to recovery programs and release sites, you’ll see firsthand how we care for over 4,000 native animals annually, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.

Meet Our Team
Chat with our incredible wildlife carers and veterinary staff, attend engaging talks, and discover what it takes to rescue, rehabilitate, and release WA’s most vulnerable animals.

Why It Matters
It costs around $25 a day to feed and care for each animal, sometimes hundreds more for specialist procedures and diagnostics. Our annual Open Day helps raise critical funds to keep this life-saving work going.

Open Day — Coming October 2025
We’ll confirm the exact date soon, but get excited, it’s going to be a day filled with animal encounters, inspiring stories, and community spirit.

If you have any questions about the day, feel free to contact our Promotions Coordinator.

Our Animal Hospital will still be accepting new admissions

If you find a sick, injured or distressed native animal, we will still be open and happy to help you. Just let the greeters know and come straight to reception. If you would like to stay for the Open Day, you can purchase a ticket at reception after admitting the animal. For the sake of the animal, please DO NOT visit attractions before admitting it. The animal has the right to a safe and quiet environment, and either leaving it in the car or carrying it around for any longer than absolutely necessary can impose unnecessary stress, and STRESS KILLS!

If you have any questions on the day, please look for one of our friendly volunteers in their PWH shirts.

Important Visitor Information

We’ve done our very best to ensure that most of our attractions are accessible to everyone. However, please note that our facility tours take place along a gravel path, which may not be suitable for wheelchairs.

If you’re bringing young children, we kindly ask that they remain calm and quiet during cuddle/photo sessions and tours. Our animals are in recovery, and loud noises can cause stress, sometimes leading to unintentional scratches or bites. While our amazing volunteers are there to support you and make your visit as safe as possible, please remember that all animal interactions are at your own risk.

We have both portable and accessible toilets on site, just ask one of our volunteers if you need directions.

Please note: There is absolutely no smoking or alcohol permitted anywhere on site. If you do wish to smoke, we ask that you exit the grounds entirely. Our zero-tolerance policy means anyone found smoking on site will be asked to leave.

Thanks for helping us create a safe and respectful environment for our animals and visitors alike!

It’s going to be a fun day, see you then!
